Olivia (CTO), Ed (CEO) and the team discuss what we're building and Tuza's approach to recruitment (5mins)

When joining a company at the early stages of it's growth story there's often more than first meets the eye. This is our opportunity to help you to understand why your next role should be with us.

1. What we do

At Tuza, we've raised $7m from leading investors to build the exchange for payments.

Today if a small business wants to work out the cost of accepting payments, they have to ring up or have a seller knock on their door. This makes the market incredibly complex to navigate: it can take weeks to work out what a fair set of rates look like. Our pricing platform enables the world's largest banks to generate real-time rates for payments by pricing risk instantly.

Since launch, over £3bn in card payments have been taken by merchants using Tuza. We work with some of the largest payment providers (Worldpay, Barclaycard, Revolut) and price comparison sites (uSwitch, Money.co.uk). Our product pipeline includes our own card terminal, launching in Q4 2024.

2. How we work

At Tuza, we like to focus on the ‘why’. Why are we building this product, or feature, and what outcome are we hoping for? We value focusing on our customers, output over input, and experiment more than we optimise.

For our payments specialists, that means you are a core part of both the sales process and the product development process. Every conversation you're having with a customer will go into improving the processes you use, and the products you sell.

3. How we sell

We are a technology platform, enhanced by people. Our team and the support we offer our customers is what makes Tuza different. When someone searches on Tuza they're normally looking to replace an existing clunky and expensive card machine. Your role is to listen to their pain points, help them  understand the rates they've received, and triage any questions.

This is fun: one moment you can be helping the owner of a small fish and chip shop in Cornwall, and the next, a League 1 football club.

As a Payments Specialist, you'll be given the autonomy to build your own pipeline of businesses, and we'll provide you with the tools and technology to build relationships with those businesses.

80% of your time will be spent in the office, talking to businesses through emails or calls. The remaining 20% of your time will be out in the 'field', meeting merchants face to face.

4. What we offer you

  • A salary of £30k, plus commission
  • A hybrid working approach. We're based out of our Shoreditch office, with Monday and Thursday as core collaboration days. The remaining days are focus days - based wherever you work best
  • 25 days holiday
  • The equipment you need to do your job
  • £350 a year towards taking a break
  • £350 a year towards learning, development or a hobby

  • Smart and kind teammates - leave your ego at the door
  • The occasional sound bath...

5. Our application process

Our aim is to get candidates through the application process from start to finish within 2-weeks of applying, in order to strike the balance of being respectful towards your time, whilst helping us maintain our high expectations.
